This memorial website was created in the memory of our beloved son, Payton Sauer, who was born in Idaho on February 04, 2007. Yes Superbowl sunday, the Colts v. Bears. We still hadnt picked out a name for our baby boy but on the way to the hospital at 4:30 in the morning I had always liked the name Payton and I told my husband I like the name Payton and he said after the QB Peyton Manning. I said well not my team but I like his name. When we got to the hospital which is an hour away I was dialated to a 3. They put the heart monitor on my tummy and for some reason which was still unknown to us he was having an erratic heart rate. Payton Wayne was finally born at 11 am, but instead of a healthy baby we learned that he had herniated his intestines. This medical problem is known as Gastroschesis. Payton weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long. Payton was immediatley put on oxygen because he had also aspirated the muconium (first bowel movement). Payton had to be flown to Salt Lake City to Primary Childrens Hospital. We couldnt have asked for Payton to be in a better place. Between the Doctors and Nurses they were just great. Paytons dad Wayne flew down there with him. I was to to stay in Idaho Falls, Idaho until the next day to be looked after. Wayne was with Payton by himself until 7pm the next day. When I got to the hospital Payton was heavily sedated. The next day things turned worse, his intestines had started to turn balck and die off. At that point they also paralized payton so that he couldnt move anymore. They were afraid that if he moved too much it was taking too much energy. Payton's lungs were very infected by the muconium. We couldn't do anything with his bowel until his lung got better. The days had ups and downs. Payton was not getting better, his stats started dropping something fierce at about 9 days old. It was a long 12 days before his body just couldn't take anymore. The doctors sat us down and said that there was just nothing they could do for him, so we had a decision to make. We knew we had to let our little guy go he had suffered enough. We had our children brought to us from Idaho to Utah so that Payton could spend his last moments with his family. It was the first time my other two children would get to see their brother. Trystan and Nataley were so excited to finally see that brother they had waited to meet for 9 months, just to say goodbye to him the first time they would get to hold him. It was also my husband and me's first time holding him sinse he was born. We cherished that time, we brought him into the family at 7:15pm and decided at 8 to take his oxygen. Payton was pronounced dead at 8:15pm but only lasting about 5 minuets after pulling his oxygen. They say the heart will continue to beat a while after they quit breathing. The hospital brought in a professional photographer and if you are interested in this go to www.nowisleep.com They were beautiful pictures taken of the last hours we would spend with our little guy. We buried Payton next to his uncle Lorin on Feb 23,2007. We now have our own special angel watching over us. We miss you Payton Wayne Sauer you will forever live in our hearts.
We want to say thank you to everyone who stops by. Please also light a candle or tribute and condolenses while you are here

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thy Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray thy Lord my soul to take

God Saw You
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you and whispered come to me. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away, And though we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
